Circuits, Cities and Something Stirring…

Happy Friday Friends.
Friday already? It’s been one of those weeks where Monday feels like it happened about 12 hours ago, but that’s what happens when things start to move at pace.
At Kingsnorth, we’ve always believed in showing, not just telling. That’s why I’ve spent a good chunk of this week planning and preparing for what’s shaping up to be a brilliant June, when we’ll be welcoming supply chain leaders from the construction and infrastructure sectors to our sites. These visits are about more than site tours and PowerPoint slides. They’re immersive experiences, giving our partners and potential partners a chance to see the real world impact of switching to sustainable biofuels and embracing circular economy principles.
There’s nothing quite like watching someone walk through the plant for the first time, eyes widening as they realise what’s actually possible. When they see the process from feedstock to fuel, when they connect the dots between our innovation and their carbon targets, you can almost feel the shift in thinking. It’s one of the most energising parts of my role, and I can’t wait to open our doors to more of the sector next month.
This week also took us into the heart of the City of London for some thought-provoking meetings with investors, policymakers, and sustainability leaders. Biofuels often get pigeonholed as “transitional” tech, a stepping stone on the path to full electrification or hydrogen. But the conversations we’re having now are starting to reflect the nuance. Decision-makers are waking up to the reality that decarbonisation needs a portfolio approach and that biofuels are not just a short-term fix, but a strategic tool in the long-term low-carbon mix toolbox.
What stood out most was the shift in tone, from “why?” to “how fast can we scale this?” That change didn’t happen overnight, but it’s happening, and it’s why I come out of weeks like this more optimistic than ever.
Now, I have to be careful what I say here, but let’s just say that one of the most exciting meetings this week wasn’t just about fuels, but also about platforms. Something is in the pipeline, something we’ve been quietly working on that’s going to take our engagement to a whole new level. It ties together innovation, outreach, and a fresh way of telling the sustainability and social impact story, across social media and beyond.
I can’t say more just yet, but if you’re one of our followers online, keep your notifications on. Big news is coming, and it’s something we think is going to resonate not just across our industry, but with anyone who cares about practical, scalable climate action.
But before that? I’ve got a date with big trucks, squealing rubber, and adrenaline this weekend. I’m heading to Pembrey Race Circuit in Wales for the second round of the British Truck Racing Championship. If you’ve never experienced it, truck racing is exactly what it sounds like, 5-tonne beasts tearing around the track at breakneck speeds, with more overtaking in 10 laps than you’ll see in some entire Formula 1 seasons.
All eyes will be on Ryan Smith, 9-time British Champion and leader of the formidable Worldwide Truck Racing team as he hunts down a tenth consecutive title. I’ve had the pleasure of talking with Ryan about his journey and his growing interest in alternative fuels and sustainable performance.
He gets it. Motorsport isn’t immune to the decarbonisation challenge, and pioneers like Ryan are part of the solution. It’s exciting for us at Syntech to be one of his sponsors.
So here’s to a weekend of noise, teamwork, and trailblazing efforts, both on and off the track. Whether I’m talking sustainability in the City or shouting encouragement from the pit wall, it all comes back to one thing: driving change, one gear at a time.
Until next time, thanks for reading, have a beautiful weekend.
Mike.
